[tycho-dev] Tycho 1.1.0 proposed release scope

Hi,

the last Tycho release 1.0.0 was back in February and I think it's about time to have a new release.

The list of fixes and enhancements [1] reflects the scope of what I would personally like to see in version 1.1.0

In particular, support for Java 9 is the most important concern which is still open.
For this we have https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=514471 and a fix proposal that works.
We currently have to resort to reflection on JDT internals at one point, so I would wait some time for feedback from JDT on
enhancement request https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=528752 , but if nothing happens I would merge the gerrit proposal so we can proceed with providing Java 9 support and doing the Tycho 1.1.0 release soon (as of now this would be based on JDT Photon M4).

@Tycho committers and contributors if there is anything more you are working on and you feel confident this can be merged soon for 1.1.0, make sure to update the "target milestone" field of the corresponding bug accordingly.

Let me know if there are any concerns with this proposed plan (or even if you agree).

Best Regards,
Jan

I think it's one of the topics that should be adressed soon (I would say for 1.2.0) but I'm afraid won't make it into 1.1.0 as noone started working on it.

there are some prerequisites (update surefire 2.19.1) which have to be done first.
